Welcome back to Fantasy Friday where you will find reviews of classic and new books!
Arthur rocks! This fourth book in The Pendragon Cycle is such a great book. It is somewhat disconcerting in the beginning, as this is more a prequel in some ways to the last book rather than a sequel. It repeats some scenes from the previous volume before it moves into new material. I wonder if Lawhead got all these plot bunnies after he wrote Arthur and did not want to lose them. I do not blame him in the least. The next book, Grail, is a direct sequel to this book, but it also contains more events that happen before the end of the Arthur book. Once you get used to this time travel back and forth, you are grateful for all this extra time to spend with Arthur, which you would not have otherwise.
This book details Arthur’s adventure in Ireland, where his beloved queen is from. Here and back in Britain, he and his heartbrothers battle invasions of Vandals. He has defeated all his other foes. Has he met his match here?
