This is the first time I have participated in Top 5 Tuesday topic, created by Shanah, AKA The BionicBookWorm, who gives us book aficionados something to rave about each Tuesday. This week is why I love reading. Let me count the ways (or some of them at least) …
You have to have some place to escape this crazy world, even if it’s into another crazy one (but not the same crazy).
“I cannot live without books.” – Thomas Jefferson. My brother! 🙂 I love to find new worlds to explore, places I just want to step into and live in. I love to find new people to wrap my heart around. I love reading books that seriously rock and leave you in awe of the sub-creator’s ability.
There’s a wealth of ideas in good books, sometimes free too! You can learn anything and everything from books to enrich your life and in turn, enrich others. I am a research nut, so I love to dive in and just lose myself. I still remember one night leaving the library with my dad with a stack of books and telling him I was so glad I did not have a boyfriend, so I would have more time to read. 🙂
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” – Cicero.
To dive into a book and immerse yourself in another reality is one of life’s great joys. I feel sorry for those who do not like to read. They are missing out so much.
Why do you love to read? What are your favorites you return to again and again? What are the ones you just discovered for the first time?
